On flatsawn surfaces, the grain often reveals stunning "eyes" and figuring that provide a high-end, custom look to any finished piece.

Working Properties: Despite its dense, oily nature, Bocote is delightfully easy to turn, glue, and finish. It has a fine-to-medium texture that sands and polishes to a high natural luster, often requiring minimal finishing to look professional. While it is generally stable, its density benefits from sharp tools and controlled cuts on the lathe.

Quality & Preparation:

• Kiln Dried: Moisture content is maintained below 10% for stability.

• Wax Sealed: End grains are sealed in wax to prevent checking; seal guaranteed for 30 days.

• Project Ready: Ideal for bowls, platters, knife scales, tool handles, musical instruments, and fine furniture.

• Thin Stock:  Surfaced two sides

Note on Natural Variation: Wood is a natural product—color, figure, and grain pattern can vary wildly; no two pieces will be the same. Available blanks are shown in groups to demonstrate variation, but each may be sold in varying quantities. These are considered rough lumber and may contain nominal surface checks or tear-out, which are standard for exotic species and not considered defects. All sizes are nominal (+/- 1/8").
