Solid Carbide Short Up-Cut Compression Router Bit, 2+2 Flute
Compression bits combine up-cut and down-cut geometry to give you an incredibly clean edge on both the top and bottom of your material. But if the up-cut portion is thicker than your material, the compression advantage is lost. The "merger zone" on Ultra-Shear's Short Up-Cut Compression Bits extends just over 1/8" from the end, meaning it gives you true compression cuts on material as thin as 1/4" (6mm). We've put that short up-cut on 3/8" shank, 3/8" cutting diameter bits, 1/2" shank, 1/2" cutting diameter bits and a 1/2" shank bit stepped down to 3/8" cutting diameter.

American Made Quality at Factory Direct Pricing
Just like switching to a thin kerf blade on your table saw, you'll hear and feel the difference when you're machining parts with a 3/8" bit compared to a 1/2" bit. The more components you cut, the more you'll appreciate the extra yield as you save 1/8" of material on every edge. But, in certain materials and certain patterns, the 1/2" diameter bit is needed. That's why we offer you both…in a variety of cut lengths.
Industrial users who have switched to Ultra-Shear solid carbide bits tell us they're seeing as much as 15 times the service life compared to other premium industrial brands. Imagine getting two or three weeks of work from bits instead of replacing them every day or two. In a home shop, these bits might last as long as your hobby. While engineered for sheet goods, the Short-Up-Cut Compression Bits cut solid wood flawlessly, too, in through-cuts, dadoes, grooves and rabbets.
