Ultra-Shear Deep Reach Bowl Bits combine a generous cutting length with an overall length of 3" to machine deeper recesses in your projects. Three shank sizes ensure you can use our Deep Reach Bowl Bits in any router you choose. Three different fractional radius corners are available (1/8", 3/16" and 1/4") in either 1/4" or 1/2" shank…all with 3/4" cutting diameter. For users of the Shaper Origin and other European routers we offer 16mm cutting diameter bits with corner radii of 3mm, 4mm and 5mm…all with 8mm shanks. Divided charcuterie boards, nightstand valets, coasters, desk organizers and holiday candy dishes are just some of the hundreds of projects you can make. "How" you make them is up to you. The bits are equipped with pattern following bearings, but if you want to use them in a CNC, the bearings come off in seconds.

You can use commercially available templates or make your own custom patterns. The beauty of pattern work with these bits is that what you see is what you get. Whatever size and shape your template, that's exactly what your project will look like. There's no offset to contend with like there is when using template guide bushings.
Ultra-Shear borrowed a technique from metal-working tool companies to build spiral router bits unlike anything else on the market. Solid carbide bits with cutting diameters greater than the shank involve grinding away immense amounts of carbide which is both time consuming and wasteful. Carbide tipped bits lack the shear-cutting efficiency of spiral geometry. Ultra-Shear brazes a solid carbide head onto an economical steel shank, then turns the entire assembly as one unit, delivering the perfect concentricity and superior cutting geometry found in solid carbide spirals. This hybrid approach opens up a world of opportunities for unique, high-performance designs while keeping prices competitive.
