Who says kitchen storage can’t have style? These three attractive containers are designed to hold some of your basic kitchen necessities — two tall boxes (one to hold knives and one for utensils) and a recipe box for safekeeping of the most-prized family favorites. Each container starts as a straightforward, mitered box. Contrasting walnut splines add strength to the joints. But then things take a slightly different turn. Using a simple technique, the decorative splines are exposed at the corners. What you get is some very interesting woodworking and a thoroughly unique look. And my favorite part of the project is that from first cut to finished project, you’re only talking a couple of days.
