Woodsmith Custom Garage Shelving Plan

When it comes time to organize the garage, you certainly have no shortage of options. One choice is the many available “garage storage systems.” These look great and add a lot of storage space, but they also quickly subtract a lot of money from your pocket book. Another option is to build your own shelving system. You won’t spend nearly as much money, but you’ll have to invest a lot of time. Luckily, there is a third option: Create a hybrid system by starting with ready-to-assemble steel shelves and then creating simple enclosures to turn them into custom cabinets. That’s how we created this storage system. It starts with three sets of steel shelves that we picked up at a local home center for less than $200. Then, we wrapped the shelves with pegboard panels and added plywood doors. We even built in a workbench. The result is a great-looking storage and work center.
