Woodpeckers phenolic Clamping Cauls bring a trick that's been around for thousands of years into the 21st Century. We've all seen the trick of using a pair of slightly cambered boards on both sides of a panel glue-up to keep the panel flat. A lot of us have tried it and found the cauls flex too much and don't put the necessary squeeze on the boards. Woodpeckers phenolic Clamping Cauls are different. Phenolic is stiffer than wood and the camber machined into the cauls is calculated to exert 225 lbs. of force when they're clamped straight. Once we got these into the shop, we discovered flat panels were just the beginning of the jobs these handy clamping aids can do. They can multiply the efforts of your clamps and direct clamping pressure to areas regular clamps just can't reach.
Precisely Machined Camber Applies up to 225 lbs. of Clamping Pressure
Woodpeckers Clamping Cauls feature a precise camber engineered to provide 225 lbs. of pressure uniformly when the camber is straightened between two clamps at the ends. No matter how carefully you prepare your stock for a panel glue-up, there's bound to be a little mismatch between the board faces. A few pairs of Clamping Cauls across the faces will save you hours of hand planing, keep your panel flat and keep it at the desired dimension.
When your project reaches that point when you discover you don't have enough clamps, Woodpeckers Clamping Cauls can save the day again. A pair of Clamping Cauls and two bar clamps can replace 4 to 8 bar clamps. Just run the Cauls along the outside of your assembly with clamps at each end. The camber takes the place of all the clamps you would normally put in the middle of the panel.

They won't warp, twist or crack due to age, use or weather fluctuations.
