Domestic & Exotic Lumber Supplies for Woodworking Originality!

Searching for unique types of wood for your specialty woodworking project? The Woodpeckers Woodshop offers a variety of quality domestic & exotic species of lumber from North America and around the world - including locales like Africa, Australia, Brazil and South America. We offer 28 different types of wood in a multitude of sizes. Choose from woods that saw well, are easy to cut with smooth finishes, “bend” well or are shock resistant. We also have woods that feature a certain specialty appearance - straight grains, coarse textures, featuring figured burls, not to mention exotic hues.

Our African mahogany is a less expensive wood that is usually always in stock. This wood is great for beginners -easy to saw and it holds up to gluing quite well. Build a beautiful picture frame or cutting board with African mahogany wood. The canarywood that Woodpeckers features is great to work with using your hands or power tools. This species has dark reddish-brown to light yellowish-orange colors. Make a pen, tool handle or knife easily with canarywood turning blanks. Our Banksia Pod from Southwestern Australia is one of our rare exotic wood species we are fortunate to have in stock. The Banksia Pod has seed cavities on the outside that give projects a prominent design appeal and texture. Fill the cavities with colored inlay material for a one-of-a-kind look! Lastly, for an outstanding, original look for woodworking projects, our purpleheart is a dense heartwood from South America that has a remarkable purple coloring for striking effect when used in projects.

At Woodpeckers, we stock wood species that are difficult to access from a typical hardwood retail store and can be purchased legally and ethically. Work with species of wood you never imagined crafting, for a reasonable price. Click on the different types of wood to determine which species is the best for your project.
