Ultra∙Shear's Carbide Insert Spoilboard Bit is the last surfacing bit you'll ever have to buy. Few things in the shop are more annoying than a dull router bit. And that annoyance is multiplied when the bit is a big, expensive one. Ultra-Shear's Carbide Insert Spoilboard Bit uses three 4-edged carbide inserts rather than brazed carbide tips. When the edges dull, just rotate the inserts 90° and you're right back to work with razor-sharp fresh edges. When all four sides have been used, a set of replacement inserts is a fraction of the cost of a brazed bit (that has only one set of edges).

American Made Quality at Factory Direct Prices

"Spoilboard" bits are used in CNCs to surface a waste board and establish a surface parallel to the router carrier. They're also used to flatten rough-sawn slabs and glued-up panels, particularly end-grain glue-ups that can't be run through a planer. That job can be done either on a CNC or with a hand-held router and a jig. We make the Spoilboard Bits in both 1/4" and 1/2" shank so you can use them in whatever size router you have… even palm routers can tackle flattening jobs with the efficiency of our 3-flute design.

Replaceable carbide inserts originated in metal working. Among woodworkers, turners first embraced them for lathe tools that never need sharpening. Now more and more are showing up in router bits, and why not? Why keep throwing money away every time a router bit gets dull? With insert bits, a new set of razor-sharp cutting edges is just a few seconds away, any time, day or night.

Woodpeckers ships these top-quality bits direct from the manufacturer to the woodworker. You no longer have to settle for inferior quality imported bits to save money. We precision-machine the body of the Carbide Insert Spoilboard Bits here in our Strongsville, Ohio facility. Our factory-direct approach delivers top quality router bits at extremely competitive prices. These are the only 1-1/2" carbide insert spoilboard bits we know of that offer 3 cutters instead of 2 and are available in both 1/4" and 1/2" shank.
