Ultra-Shear's new Countersink Slotting Router Bits cut a countersunk pilot hole like you expect from a countersink drill bit…except it can cut sideways, as well as straight in. By feeding laterally you can cut a slot that fits a flathead wood screw and allows expansion and contraction of the wood. We make bits sized for #6, #8, #10 and #12 screws. These are solid carbide bits that provide an incredibly clean cut and last through thousands of screw blocks.

These bits are equally at home in your router table or a plunge router with a fence. Making several screw blocks at once simplifies and speeds up the process. The slot length can be whatever you need based on the species of wood and the width of your board. You can even chuck these in your drill press to drill the pilot holes to connect the apron.
Table-to-apron screw blocks are the most obvious use for these bits, but you can use them anywhere you need a countersunk slot that allows movement.
