Ultra-Shear's new Counterbore Slotting Router Bits cut a stepped slot that allows for material expansion and contraction and is also suitable for any application that requires lateral adjustment of a fastener. We make the Counterbore Slotting Router Bits in 4 sizes, with clearance slots for #6, #8, #10 and #12 screw sizes, all with 1/2" head clearance. These are solid carbide bits that provide an incredibly clean cut and last through thousands of screw blocks.

These bits are equally at home in your router table or a plunge router with a fence. Making several screw blocks at once simplifies and speeds up the process. The slot length can be whatever you need based on the species of wood and the width of your table top. You can even chuck these in your drill press to drill a square shouldered counterbore pilot hole.
Table-to-apron screw blocks are the most obvious use for these bits, but you can use them anywhere you need a counterbored slot that allows movement.
