Add a finishing touch to your cutting and serving board creations with Ultra-Shear's new Finger Grip Groove Bits. These bearing-guided carbide-tipped bits mill a subtle concave recess that complements the board's thickness and delivers just the right amount of fingertip grip. Three sizes cover boards approximately 3/4", 1" and 1-1/4".
The pilot bearing keeps the depth consistent and follows the curve of your board design. If you're using a fence, you can set stops for the length of the groove you want. On curved edges, make a witness mark on the top of your board for the beginning and end of the cut and take that to the center of the bearing. Some boards (especially thin ones) look great with the groove cut around the entire edge. It's up to you!
