Ultra-Shear's innovative new Extended Length spiral bits fill a need for those with Multi-Router and PantoRouter machines who need to machine large joints. The carbide cutting head is brazed to a steel shank, then the spiral cutting profile is ground. It has the advantages of a solid carbide cutting area married to a more resilient steel shank.
With an overall length of 3-7/8", these large diameter, long cut length bits open new opportunities in horizontal router joinery. Now you can work in 6/4, 8/4 and even thicker material, creating mortise and tenon joints correctly sized for the stock you're using. The cutting geometry has been optimized for smooth cuts whether the bit has material on one side or both and the shortened cutting area reduces chatter on deep reach cuts.
