The Durable, Sustainable Alternative to Black Walnut

Elevate your woodworking projects with our Tzalam (Mayan Walnut) 6.5 Board Foot Project Pack. Sourced from the lush forests of Mexico and Central America, Lysiloma latisiliquum is a premier exotic hardwood celebrated for its sophisticated aesthetics and rugged durability.

Why Choose Tzalam? Often compared to American Black Walnut or Koa, Tzalam boasts a color palette ranging from light reddish-tan to deep, dark brown, often accented by purplish streaks. Its fine grain and high natural polish make it a favorite for "statement" pieces that require a high-end finish.

Key Features:

  • Superior Durability: Naturally resistant to decay and insect attack, making it suitable for both indoor heirlooms and outdoor applications.

  • Workability: Despite its density, Tzalam glues, turns, and finishes beautifully. It is known for taking a high natural luster that enhances its "curly" figure.

  • Sustainable Choice: An excellent, moderately priced alternative to traditional walnuts and mahoganies.

  • Versatility: Ideal for high-end cabinetry, musical instruments, decorative turnings, and boat building.

Note: As a natural product, individual boards may vary in color and grain pattern, ensuring your final project is truly one-of-a-kind.
