Stainless Steel 2025 in-DEXABLE Combination Square
As a special annual release, we're building our in-DEXABLE Combination Square with a precision-machined stainless steel head. Thousands of you have asked for it, and now…on an annual made-to-order basis…it's here. The stainless steel head reflects Woodpeckers commitment to precision machining. Every surface, curve and fitting looks and feels purposeful. For example, the edges grab your attention, because they've been polished to a mirror finish. The recessed areas have a low-reflective satin finish that provides a pleasant contrast to the mirror-like edges. The reference surfaces have a third finish, somewhere between the other two. Not quite a mirror, but finer than anything you'll see on any other combination square and perfect for sighting against when checking stock edges or machinery alignment.
A Woodpeckers Classic Made Entirely in Stainless Steel
The feature we think you’ll find most useful on these squares is the laser-cut scribing guides cut every sixteenth-inch along the blade. The guides are just the right size to capture any sort of marking tool for highly accurate parallel scribing. You can use a mechanical pencil (our choice), a wooden pencil, ink pen, permanent marker…heck you can use one of your kid's crayons if that's all you have at hand. Just depress the spring-loaded index pin and lock the head at any full inch…now your scribing guides are dialed in and ready for accurate parallel marking.
For years, one of our customers’ favorite features of our fixed-head squares has been the shoulder that keeps the square in position on the edge of your stock. We’ve added that to the in-DEXABLE line, too. Just slide the head support out to keep the head of your square perfectly positioned without needing three hands. If it’s in the way, it just slides back into the head and doesn’t interfere with the alignment of the square in any way.
The scales engraved on the 12" blade of the square have 16ths on one edge and 32nds on the other. All scales are laser engraved to a tolerance of ±.004" total accumulated error over the entire length of the blade. That’s about the thickness of a human hair spread over the 12-inch blade length. The blades go through a multi-step finishing process to give them a lustrous satin finish, and the deeply engraved graduations are crisp and dark and will never wear off. We're also including a wall-mountable Rack-It to keep your square right in plain sight and always ready to go to work.
Like all Woodpeckers products, the Stainless Steel 2025 in-DEXABLE Combination Square is precisely machined and carefully inspected in our Strongsville, Ohio facility (just south of Cleveland). This will not be part of our permanent product program. Instead, we will build them to order once a year. We're accepting orders for the next 3 weeks. After that, we'll build just enough to fill the orders. This annual release system allows us to build tools that would not be practical to keep on the shelf year-round. The order deadline is Monday, December 29, 2025. We expect to ship in February, but don't worry, your credit card won't be charged until your square is ready to ship.* The next release of the All Stainless in-DEXABLE Combination Square will be approximately one year from now.
