Bolivian Rosewood, Machhaerium spp., is commonly available in Tropical South America, mainly Bolivia and Brazil. Closely related to the Dalbergia genus, it’s appearance and workability makes it a popular substitute for Brazilian Rosewood. Sometimes referred to as Pau Ferro or Morado, its color can vary from a red-toned orange to a dark, violet-toned brown, often with darker black streaks. Bolivian Rosewood turns and finishes exceptionally well. These slabs are kiln-dried and sanded/planed to about 150 grit. We have taken the pictures after wiping on some water to show off the grain pattern of the slab. The slabs were measured from the center of the board in both width and length.  Keep in mind that these are one-of-a-kind pieces. Wood is a natural product, and pieces may have checks or other inconsistencies.  These are not considered defects.  Thickness +/-1/8”.
