These slabs are kiln-dried and sanded/planed to about 150 grit. We have taken the pictures after wiping on some water to show off the grain pattern of the slab. The slabs were measured from the center of the board in both width and length. Keep in mind that these are one-of-a-kind pieces. Wood is a natural product, and pieces may have checks or other inconsistencies. These are not considered defects. Thickness +/-1/8”.

Chechen
Chechen (Metopium brownei), also known as Caribbean Rosewood, is native to Dominican Republic, Jamaca and Cuba. Although not a true rosewood, this species holds many of the same characteristics. It’s a visually stunning species with a range of color that can include greens, reds, gold and orange. It is a moderately hard species that works easily and finishes well.

Patagonian Rosewood
Patagonia Rosewood (Anadenanthera colubrina), also known at Curupau, is native to Bolivia and Paraquay. Patagonian Rosewood is an extremely hard and dense wood, which offers great durability. Its color ranges from cream to orange tones and over time changes to deep orange/reddish brown. Unique to this wood is its black pronounced striping.

Primavera
Primavera (Roseodendron donnell-smithii) is native to Central America. The color ranges from a pale cream to a golden yellow. It will darken with age. Primavera live edge slabs can exhibit a ribbon-like chatoyant grain pattern.

Canarywood
Canarywood (Centrolobium spp.), native to Panama, has a heartwood color that can vary a fair amount, from a pale yellow-orange to a darker reddish brown, usually with darker streaks throughout. Pale yellow sapwood is sharply demarcated from heartwood. Color tends to darken and homogenize with age.

Olivewood
Olivewood (Olea spp.) is native to Eastern Africa. Heartwood is a cream or yellowish brown, with darker brown or black contrasting streaks. Color tends to deepen with age. Olive is sometimes figured with curly or wavy grain, burl, or wild grain.

Walnut
Walnut (Juglans nigra) is light, very stable, and a pleasure to use in just about any project. These specially selected slabs come from Iowa, the source for premium Walnut. The abundant color variations in these slabs will make them a show piece of any woodworking project. Heartwood color can vary a fair amount, from light to dark brown and even chocolate brown.
