Hickory, Carya spp, is an extremely resilient hardwood with light to medium brown heartwood and a slightly paler sapwood. It is among the hardest and strongest of domestic hardwoods in the United States. Denser, stiffer, and harder than both White Oak and Hard Maple, Hickory makes an excellent choice for heirloom furniture, flooring, tool handles, baseball bats, and much more.  Grain is typically straight, though can be wavy.
