At first glance, the DelVe Square looks like a smaller version of the square almost every framing carpenter carries in his tool belt. But take a closer look and you’ll find features that make the DelVe Square ideal for every furniture and cabinetmaker. Whether you’re laying out hand-cut joinery or marking up stock for machining, the DelVe Square offers convenience and accuracy in a tool small and light enough to keep in your pocket all the time.
DELVE SQUARE® 2020
The most unique feature of the DelVe Square is easy to overlook, but invaluable once you’ve found it. One side of the base is 1/4" from the blade and the other is 3/8". Mark from the 1/4" side on both edges of 3/4" stock and you’ve just laid out a perfectly centered mortise or tenon. Use the 3/8" side to locate center of 3/4" stock for joinery or hardware installation. The base wraps around your stock for a positive, accurate reference. That wrap-around feature also lets you mark the face and edge at the same time.
With a DelVe Square in your pocket, you always have set-up blocks of 1/8", 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4" at your fingertips. The blade is 1/8" thick and 1/2" wide. The base is 1/4" thick and 3/4" wide. Use whichever section you need for machinery set-up, joinery lay-out or other referencing chores.
Scales on the blade are engraved to an accuracy of ±0.004" total accumulated error. To make accurate layout even easier, there are scribing guides milled every eighth-inch along the blade. Just drop the tip of your pencil in the right hole and slide the base along the edge of your stock for perfectly parallel lines at the precise measurement you choose. To lay out angles, the hypotenuse is engraved at 5° increments, plus 22-1/2° and 67-1/2°.
Need a hole centered on 3/4" stock? No problem, there’s a hole milled 3/8" from the inside edge of the base and perfectly sized to work with self-centering drill bits.
Oh, and did I mention that on top of all these nifty design features, the 90° and 45° angles are machined and inspected to Woodpeckers market-leading standards?

Squares - FAQ
Q: What is the difference between the Aluminum and Stainless Steel squares besides material?
A: The biggest difference besides the material the squares are made out of is the marking holes that are milled into the stainless steel squares that are not milled in the aluminum versions. These holes allow for marking layout lines for projects. The Stainless Steel Square blade is approximately 1/16” in thickness where the Aluminum blade is approximately ⅛”. The thinner blade and the marking holes along the blade of the Stainless Steel Square allows for it to be better used for lay out lines. The thicker blade of the Aluminum Square is better suited for making sure work pieces are perpendicular to each other.
Q: How accurate are your squares compared to others on the market?
A: Our squares are milled and inspected to be within tolerances of .001” per foot or .0085°.
