African Walnut (Lovoa trichilioides), native to West tropical Africa, and while is not related to true walnuts in the Juglans genus, but is actually more closely related to Mahogany, being in the Meliaceae family, which contains both the Swietenia and Khaya genera, as well woods such as Spanish Cedar and Sapele. It’s heartwood is a golden yellow to reddish brown, sometimes with darker streaks and veins. Grain is usually slightly interlocked, but sometimes straight, with medium and uniform texture along with a high level of natural luster. African Walnut is generally easy to work and it turns, glues, and finishes well.
Wood is a natural product, and pieces may vary slightly. Due to wood movement, shrinkage, and expansion, please measure each piece carefully. Dimensioned within +/-1/8” of size listed.
