Look at The Features Found Only in Woodpeckers Taper Sled
The traditional hook at the end of the fence works great for tapered legs and many other projects. But all too often, it's in the way. We've made our hook stop fully adjustable, from just barely exposed to 3/4" of support. But we also milled a track clamp slot parallel with the blade so you can make a sacrificial stop anywhere along the length of the sled…and it can work on either end of your material, as shown in the photos.
Our patented leaf-spring miter bar fits any 3/8" x 3/4" miter slot…new, old or in between. Nylon leaf springs compensate for wear and inaccurate machining and keep your sled running true. But the miter bar sets a limit on the size of piece you can cut. When you've got a big project, removing the sled from the miter bar takes just seconds. Then use your rip fence to guide the sled for over-sized taper projects or straight-lining wide planks.
When you're tackling a job where the fence isn't helpful…like straight-lining rough-sawn lumber…4 track-clamp slots are there for you. Just slide any standard track clamp in the slot and secure your work with confidence.
When the job calls for the fence, Our Knuckle Clamps complement the Taper Sled perfectly. They adjust to a wide range of material thickness and clamp firmly. We key-holed the steel fence so you can get the clamps out of the way when you're setting up and put them right where you need them when you're ready to cut.
Most woodworking taper projects are expressed in a certain amount of change over a given distance…what roofing framers call "rise over run". We've spaced the two scales on the Taper Sled exactly 24" apart, which makes setting rise over run quick, easy and accurate. There's a web address in the owner's manual for a site where you can instantly convert angles stated in degrees to rise over run. Of course, you can always layout your tapers on your workpiece and align the start and stop points to the edge of your Taper Sled, too.
