Woodpeckers Slab Flattening Mill PRO builds on the success of our original Slab Flattening Mill. Working with feedback from thousands of Slab Flattening Mill customers we redesigned the router carriage with a greater thickness range and integrated dust capture right at the source. We also extended the rails, increasing the standard width capacity to a massive 48-1/2" wide (using a 2” cutter…even more with a larger bit). And, new for 2024, you can get your Slab Flattening Mill PRO with the power of the EZ-Drive System. Now, instead of pushing and pulling the router carriage, you can feed it across and along your slab with two simple hand cranks.
The Evolution of Router-Based Slab Milling
Woodpeckers Slab Flattening Mill PRO guides your router over your slab in a controlled plane. Since you’re using a router instead of a planer-style cutterhead, tear-out is minimal…and thanks to our uniquely engineered rails and enhanced solid steel carriage, the surface will only need light sanding afterwards. The router carriage is the main feature that sets the Slab Flattening Mill PRO apart from the original Slab Flattening Mill. The new carriage adjusts in height by a full 2-1/2". Depending on your router and router bit, you can work on stock just a fraction of an inch thick or up to 3-3/8” without ever shimming either the rails or the slab. We integrated dust collection in the new router carriage, too. The twin pick-up points and flexible full-surround curtain capture well over 90% of all shavings and dust.
Looking to make the Slab Flattening Mill PRO even easier to use, our engineers developed the EZ-Drive System. Now you can feed the router carriage across and along the slab with two hand cranks. Synchronized belts on both sides of the carriage ensure smooth and even travel. You can bundle EZ-Drive with either the basic or extended Slab Flattening Mill PRO. If you already have a Slab Flattening Mill (PRO or original) you can add EZ-Drive to it. Just click the EZ-Drive link below where it says "Related Products".
Similarly, if you have an original Slab Flattening Mill and love the features of the PRO, there's an Upgrade Kit that puts the new router carriage on your existing rails. We also offer a range of surfacing router bits including ones with interchangeable carbide tips. For edge milling we offer down-cut solid carbide spiral bits in several diameters and cutting lengths.
Just like the original, you can get the Slab Flattening Mill PRO in either a Basic or Extended configuration. The Basic includes one pair of base rails which gives you a maximum slab length of 58". The Extended adds a second set of rails, extending the maximum slab length to 134" (that’s right…over eleven feet!)
Like all Woodpeckers products, the Slab Flattening Mill PRO is precisely machined and carefully inspected in our Strongsville, Ohio factory (just south of Cleveland). Don’t put off that natural edge project you’ve been dreaming about any longer. Order your Woodpeckers Slab Flattening Mill-PRO today!

Slab Flattening Mill - FAQ
Q: Can I expand the overall dimensions of the Slab Flattening Mill?
A: Yes, you can purchase extension rails in varying lengths of 24”, 48”, 72”, and 76”.
Q: Is there a way to increase the thickness of a slab I can mill?
A: You can secure 2”x4” or 4”x4” lumber to the base and then secure the base rails to the lumber which allows you to mill thicker slabs.
Q: Can I order a specific length of V-Rail?
A: Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any other length than what is advertised on our website.
Q: What is the difference between the Board Mill, Slab Flattening Mill, and the Slab Flattening Mill PRO?
A: The board mill is designed to be used for flattening and milling thinner boards from ¾” to 1-¾” thick with a width capacity of 18” and length of 55-¾”. The Slab Flattening Mill can mill slabs up to 3-7/16” and the minimum thickness depends on the travel of the router and length of the blade. The Slab Flattening Mill can mill boards up to 40-¾” in width and 58-⅜” in length. The Slab Flattening Mill PRO is able to mill slabs and boards as thin as ¾” and as thick as 3-3/8''. With a capacity of 49” in width and 58” in length. The other big difference is that the Board Mill and the Slab Flattening Mill PRO have integrated dust collection with a dust curtain and ports where the Slab Flattening Mill will need to have the Dust Collection Shroud used which can be purchased separately.
