WOODPECKERS Router Table COPING SLED
Our Woodpeckers Coping Sled is the best way to ensure your board is perpendicular to the router fence and guides smoothly across the router bit.
The Woodpeckers Coping Sled uses two techniques to secure your work piece. First it traps the board between the adjustable top plate and the fence. The slotted top plate is easily adjusted for material up to 5½" wide. Trapping the board this way prevents the router bit from spinning the board. Controlling this rotational force is the most important part of accurately shaping end grain.
Second, two clamps hold the piece down to prevent lifting. However very little clamping pressure is needed because the board is trapped as explained earlier. The two clamp knobs are part of the clamp beam which is adjustable so it can easily be set to the center of the board.
Additionally, the Woodpeckers Coping Sled is equipped with two handles that are used to lock the clamp beam in place. Their location is always directly above the clamping force and well away from the router bit. When making through-tenons or other deep cross-grain cuts, you may need more offset than the standard guide offers. The optional 15" Deep Cut Coping Sled Guide increases your clearance to 3 inches. It’s simple to change this with the standard guide…just two knobs. Like the standard guide, you’re following the fence, not a miter track, so the fence needs only to be adjusted for depth of cut and not kept parallel to the miter slot.
The Woodpeckers router coping sled is faster and easier to setup and eradicates the need to align your router fence perfectly parallel to the miter slot. It also eradicates the need for having a miter slot in your router table.
