Solid Carbide Compression Router Bits, 2-Flute, 1/2" Shank
Up-Cut bits evacuate the shavings from grooves efficiently, but can chip the top edge of the cut in plywood and other man-made materials. Down-Cut bits leave a beautiful edge on the top surface, but can blow out the bottom on through cuts (again…in plywood). The latest addition to the Ultra-Shear line-up of solid carbide router bits combines the best of both. The first 3/8" on the new Compression bits is Up-Cut. The remaining cutting length is Down-Cut. Plunge just past the Up-Cut section and now you're cutting with Down-Cut grind at the surface and Up-Cut evacuating the chips from the deeper part of your groove. It's the best choice for machining plywood, MDF, melamine veneer and particle board.
