4-Flute, Alternating-Shear Carbide-Tipped Pattern and Flush Trim Bit, Dual Bearing, 1/2" Shank
Ultra-Shear's new 4-Flute Alternating-Shear Pattern and Flush Trim bits cut like nothing else we've ever built or tested. Lower feed resistance, no chipping on reverse grain swirls, virtually no grabbing on cut entry and a surface finish that looks like it's ready for varnish are the features you'll notice the first time you spin one up.
Most people assume everything that could be done with a carbide-tipped tool has already been tried. But Ultra-Shear engineers aren't most people. Brazing carbide at a shear angle is not a new idea. However, until now carbide-tipped shear-angle bits have had just two flutes…maybe 3…and the shear angle is either up-cut or down-cut. These new Ultra-Shear bits break the mold…4 flutes instead of 2 and each successive flute alternates between up-cut and down-cut. At first glance, it's easy to think it would fight against itself, but the reality is you've probably never cut with a router bit that glides so effortlessly through the stock.

Twice the Blades…Half the Sanding!
In addition to the alternating shear angle, the bevel angle of the blades has been optimized for clean cuts and long edge life. At 1-1/8" diameter, the cutting arc and mass of the head combine with those superior edges to deliver smooth cuts and virtually no grain lifting on even the gnarliest quilted hard maple.
We're not entirely sure why full-length alternating shear angle blades haven't been tried before. Heck, we're not even exactly sure why they work the way they do. We have some theories, but we’re not anxious to share them with the world at this point. What we know for sure is, these are true game-changers when it comes to pattern routing. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention they're about half the price of similarly sized solid carbide spiral or compression pattern bits.
Don’t settle for inferior quality imported bits to save money. Ultra-Shear starts with the highest quality carbide blanks and steel bodies. Then uses state-of-the-art CNC grinding equipment and ultra-fine grinding wheels to produce American-made router bits at extremely competitive prices. The days of paying extra for middle-man markups are over. Buy direct from the manufacturer and pocket the savings.
Like all Woodpeckers products, Ultra-Shear 4-Flute Alternating-Shear Carbide-Tipped Pattern and Flush Trim Bits are made right here in our Strongsville, Ohio, facility just south of Cleveland. We’re confident you won’t find an American-made bit of the same design for less.
