CARBIDE HEAD MICRO BEARING PATTERN BITS
Ultra-Shear's new Micro-Bearing Pattern Bits feature a unique construction that enables us to take a tiny solid carbide cutting head and put the bearing above the cutter. Now you can do tight radius inlays, narrow banding and other intricate pattern work down to just 3/16". The construction and size require careful cutting, but no other bits can handle fine details like these.
We make the Micro-Bearing Pattern Bits in 3/16" and 1/4" diameters. The 3/16" comes in cut lengths of 1/4" and 1/2". The 1/4" comes in cut lengths of 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4". All 5 sizes are available in both straight and spiral design.

Inlays are the perfect example to display the advantages of these bits. In the images above you'll see the big chunks left in the inside corners after milling an inlay pocket with a 1/2" shallow pattern bit. It did a fine job in getting the bulk of the material out but can't get into the narrow spots. The 3/16" Micro-Bearing Pattern Bit gets into those tight corners and creates the detail missing from most inlay projects.
To cut an inlay to fit the pocket, just rough it out with a band saw or jig saw, then attach the pattern to the workpiece and cut a perfect replica with your table mounted router and a Micro-Bearing Pattern Bit. Once you have your patterns you can make as many copies of the project as you want.
Ultra-Shear uses state-of-the-art CNC grinding equipment, the highest quality carbide, ultra-fine grinding wheels and skilled Northeast Ohio machinists to produce American-made router bits at extremely competitive prices. The days of paying extra for middleman markups are over. Buy direct from the manufacturer and pocket the savings. We’re confident you won’t find American-made Micro-Bearing Pattern Bits of the same design for less.
