Router Sled 4896
Woodpeckers NEW Router Sled 4896 brings serious slab-flattening capability within reach for live-edge slabs, epoxy tables, and oversized projects your planer can’t handle. The rigid, reinforced steel rails deliver a straight, flat path across your workpiece. The engineered, adjustable-height sled makes it easy to accommodate a variety of stock thicknesses without disassembling your setup. Add optional dust collection to capture chips and dust at the source, and you have a cleaner, more controlled way to flatten oversized work in your shop.
Flatten Slabs Your Planer Can't Handle.
We designed the Router Sled 4896 to deliver the flat, consistent results slab work demands at an extremely competitive price. The case-hardened steel rails attach to rigid aluminum spines, which keep the router and sled stable as it moves across the workpiece. The sled itself is formed from 13-gauge steel. Whether you’re flattening a rough slab, surfacing an epoxy pour, or leveling a large glue-up, the router stays flat on every pass.
The adjustable-height sled helps you get the bit into the right working range for all types of projects. Then, your router's depth adjustment handles the fine depth-of-cut control. Flatten wide panels just fractions of an inch thick and tabletops up to 3". For even thicker workpieces, just shim the rails with plywood strips to raise the working range.
Slab flattening creates chips and dust fast. The optional Dust Collection Kit includes a full-surround curtain and twin dust collection hose pickups. The fitting accepts either 2-1/2" dust collection hose or 2-1/4" shop-vac hose. A built-in "snow-plow" clears chips at the base of the rails to prevent buildup. The result is smoother travel, less debris interference, and fewer interruptions as you work.
In the full layout, Router Sled 4896 gives you the capacity to tackle slabs up to 87" long by 36" wide using a 2" diameter spoilboard bit. Even more with a larger bit. When the job or your shop space calls for a smaller setup, install just one pair of rails and work in a more compact footprint. In any configuration, the included low-profile Slab Clamping Dogs hold your workpiece securely without getting in the way.
The Router Sled 4896 was engineered by the same Woodpeckers team that developed our popular Slab Flattening Mill PRO for commercial users.
Bring serious slab flattening into your shop without the serious investment.
