Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) is one of the most popular domestic hardwoods. Heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Color can sometimes have a grey, purple, or reddish cast. The grain is typically straight, though can interlock. Black Wlanut is an easy wood to work with, and finishes very well.
