The Ultra-Shear range of 3-Flute 1/2" Spirals includes cut-lengths of 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and 2". All four lengths are available in both up-cut and down-cut versions. The range makes it simple to match the cut-length to the job (always use the shortest cut length that will do the job). Three-Flute spirals give you 50% more cuts at any given spindle speed. You have your choice of increasing efficiency with faster feed rates or delivering more cuts per inch for cleaner edges.

Up-Cut or Down-Cut? Up-cut bits pull the chips out of the kerf more effectively. They’re a better choice for dado, rabbet and full edge cutting in solid wood. Down-cut bits slice down into the material so surface fibers don’t get lifted. This is particularly important on cabinet grade plywood. A down-cut bit will give you a super clean edge in even the thinnest surface veneers.
