  2. Ultra-Shear Replacement Inserts
When we started the Ultra-Shear project, we wanted our inserts to perform at a higher level than any others on the market. We talked to dozens of carbide manufacturers throughout the country, and finally found one that understands the special requirements of woodturning. Turns out our perfect partner was just a couple hours away, right here in Ohio. What’s so special about these particular carbide inserts? Briefly, it’s the grain structure of the carbide, the level of polish on the face surface and the quality of the grind on the bevel. There’s more detail in the full description down below, but before you scroll down there, you should know that our inserts also fit most Easy Wood® tools and some Rockler® tools as well as our own Ultra-Shear tools. You can take advantage of Ultra-Shear edge performance even before you own Ultra-Shear tools. Learn More
  3. Ultra-Shear - Center Finders
Most turning projects start by finding center on at least one end of the work piece. One of the easiest ways to accomplish that is with a center finder. Woodpeckers uniquely designed and constructed center finder is ideal for this task. In seconds you'll know exactly where the dead center of your work piece is at. It works equally well on round or square stock and it's stainless steel construction makes in virtually indestructable and compatible with any marking device including sharp pencils or knives. 4. Ultra-Shear Pen Mill Ci – Carbide Inserts for Amazing Tool Life and Cleaner Cuts

Creating beautiful turned pens starts with carefully preparing the turning blank. Every pen kit on the market includes a brass insert tube that has to be glued into the blank. Then the blank needs to be trimmed perpendicular to and perfectly flush with both ends of the insert tube. The trimming process is fundamentally important to great results, but until now, the tools available to pen turners for that job have left a lot to be desired. Now Woodpeckers is introducing the Ultra-Shear Pen Mill Ci, a pen mill that effortlessly cuts every material pen turners use…and through mountains of pen blanks.

  5. Ultra Shear Parting Tool Ci

Crisp, Clean, Narrow Parting Cuts -- Ultra-Shear’s New Parting Tool Ci.

Woodturners love narrow parting tools because they allow you to get more turning from less stock, they cut with less resistance and they open up other design options (like the grooves of a honey dipper). The problem is, the thinner parting tools get, the harder they are to sharpen. Get the end just a little out of square and the tool won’t cut straight. If the edges get a little rounded over, you’ll get tear-out at the entry point. The Ultra-Shear Parting Tool Ci changes all that by eliminating sharpening altogether. Instead, the cutting edge is a nano-grain carbide insert, ground on computerized equipment, polished to a razor-like edge and replaceable in seconds.

Turning Tools and Accessories Featuring World’s Sharpest, Longest-Lasting Carbide Inserts

Of all the woodworking directions you can take, only woodturning allows you to take one piece of wood and create a stunning finished project in a matter of hours, not days or weeks. Imagine going into your shop after work and finishing a family heirloom before bedtime.

However, before Ultra-Shear tools, woodturning’s “dirty little secret” had always been that tool technique and tool sharpening needed to be mastered before you could get the results you want. Now, with Ultra-Shear, two simple techniques move you from roughing out your project to a flawless final surface. What’s more, sharpening equipment and skill aren’t needed at all.

We didn’t stop with a patent pending design for turning tools. We took our exclusive carbide inserts and built them into the Pen Mill Ci. No matter what exotic wood, acrylic product or cast hybrid you work with, the Pen Mill Ci out-cuts and out-lasts everything else on the market.

Rest assured the product development team at Woodpeckers is working on the next big thing in woodturning, and right here is the best place to find out about it. The links below will take you to the specific pages for each Ultra-Shear product. When there’s something new, you’ll find it right here first.
