Quarter Sawn White Oak lumber displays prominent rays. These are also referred to as tiger-rays, ray fleck, ray flakes and fleck patterns. Quarter sawn lumber is cut radially from the bark to the heart producing ribbon figured. Quarter sawn lumber is defined as wood where the annular growth rings intersect the face of the board at a 60 to 90 degree angle. White Oak is strong, beautiful, rot-resistant, easy-to-work, and economical value to woodworkers. (Quercus alba). Native to Eastern United States. The heartwood is light to medium brown. These 4/4 bundles are range from 4’ to 5’ in length with random widths. The boards have been skip planed to 15/16”.
