OneTIME Tool

Woodpeckers’ Program is Unique Among Manufacturers of Woodworking TOOLs.

Here’s How It Works. For each new OneTIME Tool we make a few samples and photograph it. We then offer it for sale for just a few weeks. After the order window closes, we prepare for a single production run and make only enough to fill the orders. When the tools ship, we retire it from our product line.

How Can We Do This? Like virtually all our tools, OneTIME Tools are made one at a time. They are not cast in expensive molds or stamped out by the thousands. Components (often made from solid pieces of aluminum or stainless steel) are machined individually on state-of-the-art CNC equipment in our shop near Cleveland, Ohio. Although the production process may seem unusual by industry standards, it's by far the best way to release a steady flow of good tools; tools that woodworkers can use and enjoy; tools that otherwise might never be made at all.

Since 2011, we’ve produced over 75 different OneTIME Tools. You can see them below. You’ll also see in the top row the one or two tools now available for order. Check them out! If you see a retired OneTIME Tool you like click here to be notified if we do another run. If there's enough demand, we may re-run some of these tools.

Get New OneTIME Tool Notifications. Currently, a new OneTIME Tool is offered every few weeks. The best way to be informed about upcoming tools is to receive notifications by email. We call this our Eclub. Click here to get on the list.

Let us Know??? If there's enough demand, we may re-run some of our OneTIME Tools. If you're interested, please click here to leave us your comments. Thanks.

  1. OneTIME Tool - Deluxe Trammel System - 2019 - Order Deadline August 5, 2019

Typical trammel points mark circles far beyond the reach of a normal divider-style compass. The axis point and marking point attach to the same long arm allowing you to layout huge sweeping arcs. You can buy trammel points that will attach to any normal straight edge, but Woodpeckers customers expect more from our OneTIME Tool® product developers, and this set certainly does not disappoint. With a variety of indexing and marking features and three lengths of beam, Woodpeckers Deluxe Trammel System draws arcs with either a steel scribe or a mechanical pencil, checks diagonals on drawers and boxes, measures the distance between circular holes, and becomes a long-reaching marking gauge. And, the whole kit and kaboodle stores in an MDF storage board that’s just 1" x 6" x 37"

  2. Clampzilla 4 way panel woodworking clamps by Woodpeckers

UPDATE: Optional 50" Capacity Extended Rails can now be added to your ClampZILLA!

    Woodworkers have been trying
different ways to keep boards flat while gluing panels since glue was invented. Most clamps introduce a bow in the panel because they are clamping from one side (the one with the bar). Even the best designs pull a certain amount and most could be used to make boomerangs. Savvy woodworkers try to overcome this by alternating clamps top and bottom, but getting the pressure perfectly even never happens. Woodpeckers newest OneTIME Tool, the ClampZILLA 4-Way Panel Clamp, places a bar on both sides of your stock with centering devices that direct the pressure to the exact center of your stock. Not only does ClampZILLA focus the lateral pressure on the center of your panel, it also puts vertical pressure on the boards, helping to hold them in alignment to each other.

  3. One Time Tool - Straddle Square - 2019 - Order Deadline July 15, 2019

Laying out tenons almost always involves marking three sides of your stock at the same point. Many other layout jobs require the same thing. Chasing a critical measurement around your stock with a square takes patience, time and – let’s face it, luck -- to keep all three marks on the same plane. Woodpeckers latest OneTIME Tools, the Straddle Squares are the perfect tools to have in your apron any time you need to mark both faces and one edge of your stock. Adjusting to a wide range of stock thicknesses, the two Straddle Squares grip your workpiece and give you a perfectly aligned marking reference on three sides at once.

  4. One Time Tool - Stair Tread and Shelf Gauge - 2019 - Retired July 1, 2019

Things can turn ugly when a woodworker has to turn into a remodeler. Woodworkers love square. We strive for it, we obsess over it, and for the most part, we achieve it. Many builders, on the other hand, treat it like horseshoes…you still get points if you get close. So, when woodworkers have to put shelves in an existing space, they’re going to naturally assume the structure is square -- and lose their minds just a little bit when it’s not. Relax, take a step back, accept reality and prepare for it. Woodpeckers newest OneTIME Tool, the Stair Tread & Shelf Gauge, instantly creates a template for any captured panel, compensating for angle error on the ends and giving you perfect length without measuring.

  5. OneTIME Tool - Stainless Steel Step Gauges - Retired June 24, 2019

Precision Gauges Make Machine Setup a Snap.

The same is true for setting your drill press for hole depth. Woodpeckers latest OneTIME Tools, Step Gauge RTS and Step Gauge DP are just the ticket to speedy, precision settings.  Will ship by 9/30/19.

  6. OneTime Tool - Clamp Rack-It Mobile - 24" - 2019 - Retired June, 17 2019

The original Clamp Rack-It and the Clamp Rack-It System solve the problem of where to put your clamps when you’re not using them. A few guys here at Woodpeckers have large shops and have to carry their clamps from one side of the shop to the other when doing large glue-ups. One afternoon, someone asked, “what if we put a Clamp Rack-It System on wheels?” and Woodpeckers Newest OneTIME Tool was born.

  7. One Time Tool - Sharpening System - 2019 - Retired May 20 2019

There’s no better feeling in woodworking than making a cut with a razor-sharp tool. Be it an end-grain paring cut with a chisel or a whisper-thin shaving coming off a smoothing plane, there’s nothing as satisfying as the sound of the cut and the feel of the finished surface. Part of what makes that experience so satisfying is the not-always-pleasant memory of the time and effort that went into getting the edge ready for the cut. Woodpeckers newest OneTIME Tool, the Sharpening System, makes the sharpening process easier, more accurate and quicker than freehand sharpening and has features you won’t find in any competitor.

  8. OneTimeTool - Joiner’s Marking Gauge - 2019 - Retired May 6 2019

Have you ever noticed that most marking gauges have beams that are 4 or 5 inches long, but no one uses them beyond an inch? We did. Woodpeckers latest OneTIME Tool, the Joiner’s Marking Gauge, gets rid of that annoying extra length on the beam, and packs a bunch of other nifty features in a perfect palm-full of tool. One of the essentials for laying out joinery, a marking gauge enables you to strike a razor-thin line a pre-set distance from a reference edge. For typical furniture joinery, that distance ranges from a mere fraction of an inch up to just under an inch, so that’s the reach we built into the Joiner’s Marking Gauge…just enough but not too much. You’ll feel the difference the second you pick up the tool. It fits your hand better and has better balance when you’re marking.

  9. OneTimeTool - Blade Gauge 2.0 - 2019 - Retired April 15 2019

When you’re dialing in complicated table saw or miter saw angles, you don’t want to rely on flimsy adjustable protractors or complicated electronic gizmos. They’ll never match the accuracy of a carefully machined, fixed reference. Woodpeckers latest OneTIME Tool, Blade Gauge 2.0, includes CNC-machined stainless-steel references for 90°, 45°, 22.5° and the 6 most common crown molding angles. These aren’t tools that “kinda-sorta” work for setting your saw…they’re designed and built specifically for the job. The gauges all fit into the included base, which holds the gauges perfectly vertical while you make adjustments.

  10. OneTIME Tool - DADO SETUP FIXTURE & GAP GAUGES - RETIRED APRIL 1, 2019

If you’re tired of struggling to get a perfect fit when setting up a dado blade, you’ll love Woodpeckers latest OneTIME Tools, the Dado Set-Up Fixture and Gap Gauge. It all starts with the Gap Gauge. Squeeze it down on the stock that will fit into your dado, lock it, and you have a perfect reference for the correct width of your dado. Then, rather than messing around down inside the guts of your table saw, the Dado Set-Up Fixture lets you stack your dado blades and chippers right out in the open, without any tools. The large knurled knob spins down and locks the stack just like your arbor nut. Now use the Gap Gauge to check the width of the dado assembly, adjust with shims as necessary, transfer to your table saw and you are ready to go.
