Saw Throat Plates

Every saw has a throat plate to accommodate blade changing as well as dados. The problem typically is the oversize gap in the plate. This usually leads to tear-out and jamming of thin pieces of stock.

The solution is a zero-clearance throat plate. These can sometimes be easily made in your own shop with scrap wood, or if you're looking for something better that'll also save you time, try one our CNC routed Saw Throat Plates. They're available in MDF or Phenolic.

These solid inserts go into your saw like a normal throat plate, but then have the saw kerf cut directly by raising your blade up through the plate. The result is a perfect fit between the blade and the plate which completely supports your stock and all but eliminates tear out.
