Honing Plate System

Woodpeckers new Honing Plate System takes honing to a faster, easier more convenient level. At 14 inches long, our Honing Plates are 5-6” longer than most sharpening stones. That means you get as much as 45% more sharpening with every stroke. Fewer strokes means faster, more consistent sharpening.

The system consists of three anodized aluminum honing plates and three strips of long lasting honing film, one of each grade. With three separate 14” plates and three different films you can quickly move from one plate to the next saving substantial time.

The film adheres to the plate over a thin layer of water which can be wiped on with a wet rag. There's no need to expose the self-adhesive layer on the back unless a more permanent application is desired.

The 15 micron film is the coarsest and fastest cutting but is still considered a finishing grade. The next level is a 5 micron lapping grade and the finest is a .3 micron lapping grade. Achieving razor like sharpness is now attainable in less time than ever.
