Abrasive Rolls

Two different types of abrasive material is available for your Sand-Flee Drum Sander, paper or cloth backed. They each have their place for an effective sanding process.
The paper backed is an aluminum oxide sterate type material. The sterate makes it non-loading and ideal for use where an oil finish will be used. Generally speaking sterate abrasives should be avoided if the finish will be water based.
The cloth backed material is also aluminum oxide but a non-sterate type. Non-sterate abrasives are appropriate for a water-based finish to avoid fish-eye defects.
A common approach when water based finishes will be used is to go through the roughing and medium grits with paper backed and then make a final finish pass with the cloth backed.
Each roll is 3” wide by 10 yards long and is enough to recover the 18” drum eight times and the 9” drum at least sixteen times.
Drum wrapping tape is a narrow tape that is used to secure the trailing end of the abrasive wrap. The tape comes in pre-cut lengths, 60 pieces per unit.
