Here's an opportunity to get a rather unusual straight edge. We made a test run from A2 steel. This type of steel is often use for high end hand plane blades. The goal was to make a straight edge that was resistant to dents and dings, straight as an arrow and flat. We accomplished two of the three goals; they're hardened to 50Rc (Rockwell C Scale), straight to within .0015” across along the length, but not as flat as we'd like. When laid down they have a slight bow of approximately .020”. That happened during the heat treating process however it makes absolutely on difference in functionality. They're about 1-7/8" wide and 3/16"
thick. However we decided not to add this tool to our offerings.
